To reduce harm to honey bees and other pollinators, an applicator should:
- Apply insecticides to plants while they are in full bloom for the best coverage
- Spray at midday when bees are most active, so they will avoid the treated area
- Avoid applying to blooming plants and time applications for when bees are not foraging (such as before dawn or after dusk)
- Assume any product is safe for bees unless it is a restricted-use pesticide
